Volumetric weight is a pricing method used by shipping companies to calculate the cost of shipping. It is also a standard on which air freight companies calculate the cost of freight, for regulatory considerations inside the aircraft, and this standard takes into account the dimensions in terms of length, width, and height, as well as weight, meaning that it takes into account the volume occupied by the shipment.
Where the actual weight is calculated in kilograms and the amount of space occupied by the shipment and all shipping companies go to calculate whichever is greater because of the size that the shipment will occupy within the space of the plane’s body, and the greater weight is used to calculate the cost of shipping.
